This site has several good things. Most relevant to this category is MetaKit, a C++ class library for persistent structured data. It is shareware, and looks pretty good. If you need a good GUI class library, use V. If you need a persistent data class, try MetaKit. There is also a great, free utility for tracking what you have on your drives or CDs called CatFish.
This is mostly MS-Windows oriented, but it really has freeware, and much of it seems good. Well organized categories. I've found several things at this site I wasn't able to get elsewhere.
All freeware, some interesting things, but not as good for programmers.

Smaller than Freeware Home, but seems more selective in content. Shareware and freeware.
The Ziff-Davis software library. The software listed here is rated, and generally pretty good. Most of it is shareware, however.
