What V Users are Saying
-
I've been a V user Since April of 1997 and I wanted to write and thank you
for all the effort you have put into writing the V class library. I used
V to write the APSCU32 scale conversion utility which you have listed on
your site.
The thing that I appreciate most about V is that it is very C-like in it's
design. It's takes the C++ language and makes it look and feel like an intuitive
extension to the C language rather than the stout Sanscrit prose and obscure
concepts found in the MFC. Of course, C ++ is more than just an extension
of C, but I think you understand what I mean. "Down-to-Earth" is a very good
description of your library and its' down-to-earthness is what enabled me
to get APSCU up and running in such a short amount of time.

V is used by a number of researchers here at the Daimler-Benz research center
in Ulm. We like it for its easy handling and the short time for learning.

I recently downloaded and compiled your V (1.06) interface library and am
quite impressed with its capabilities and the C++ interface. ... Thank you
very much for your time, and for making your work available to those of us
in the international (Linux!) community.

Thank you very much for writing and GPL'ing such a wonderful piece of code.
I've been programming C for a few years now and X11 has always been too
intimidating for me to attempt to learn. V has helped me immensely.

It took me just 5-6 hours to get my application running and to direct the
output to a window. That was the total time. It took me about two hours of
reading (I read the whole manual at once), then I started out with the tutorial
application and modified it.

I came across your V announcement on comp.os.linux.announce and copied it
over. It looks like what I have been looking for for ages !! (nicely designed
and not too big)

Thanks for this work. I d/l'ed the Win version and like it very much. I'm
really waiting for the OS/2 and Mac version. I'm staying posted! I hope you
don't mind, I put added a link from my "Developer's Space" home page to your
page. Thanks again,

Congratulations for your work on V, it's exactly what we, programmers, are
needing.

I am trying out and studying your C++ GUI package V, and I am impressed by
it. My sincere congratulations for such an elegant GUI package.

Thanks for providing such a nice piece of software! I got it to work on our
HP 9000/735 with hpux 9.x without much trouble. The only prerequisite is
that the GNU stuff (gmake, g++, gcc) is installed.

The 3-d buttons are very neat. Keep up the good work, I am grateful for V.

Thank you very much for the work you have put in towards making V. I am currently
writing a 3d editor using V as the frame.
Mark Carey, Mentor Graphics, Newbury, UK.

I just finished writing a small multimedia application using the V toolkit.
I found it very functional, reliable, and easy to use (this was on the Linux
platform).

I use V C++ GUI framework since the version 1.04 and I found it very pleased
and useful. My platform is a DEC Alpha Axp station under OSF/1 3.0. Thank
you for designing this great C++ GUI framework and put it under the GNU license,

I thought I'd let you know that I really like V. There's enough functionality
to do some fairly significant things with it...

I recently downloaded V and thought I'd let you know that I successfully
compiled it with Turbo C++ for Windows V3.1. Setting up the .prj file was
trivial and the demos checked out okay. I am impressed with the simplicity
and elegance of V.

Thanks for your V C++ GUI Framework. It's nice to see a simple GUI interface
that's accomplishes 99% of what Windows (X, MS, OS2) programmers wish to
do.
Brendan Simon, Dept of Digital Systems, Monash Uni, Melbourne, Australia.

Beautiful job on V. It's neat, small, clean, compact, and tremendously useful.

The manual for V is really great, and so are the demos ...
